Definitely sexually, maybe generally? I was rather surprised when I read the post, because everything I know about Japan comes from anime, manga, and jdramas (and I *do* know that pop culture isn't an exact mirror to reality) and seemed really different from what the OP (who'd lived in Japan) was saying. In anime and manga, for instance, public declarations of love aren't uncommon; however, the OP said that hooking up was difficult for men and women alike, and done very subtly and indirectly.
It was a *really* interesting post, although I don't think I'd ever be able to incorporate any of it into my fic.
It just might. or it might also contain a very public apology that Makino would perform in some other way than in licking Dorkface's shoe...*nosebleed*
