I think it was Locke because he doesn't want off the island. And I am not sure it's for evil purposes. I don't think that Sawyer would have had a chance to get to Sayid that fast. But Locke was off with the boar and no one was watching him. The others, were trying to save Jack, including Jin.

I don't really love to hate Sawyer right now. It's true that the actor is very yummy and pretty. I can't deny that. But thus far his character hasn't really had any redeeming qualities and I have issues around that. He goes beyond the "bad boy" pull. What he did when Jack could have been dead for all he knew . . is just icky.
