A) wallowing in the depths of the yuletide archive gleefully
B) writing up an epic post about why I have no dignity, love Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, and am remarkably cheerful about that loss of dignity
C) watching ep 4 of Why Why Love

However,
my eyes are about to fall out from too much reading, and i can no longer keep fandoms straight
every time i try to write this up, i get distracted by wanting to provide pictorial proof, and i havent finished gathering it yet
the subs arent working, so i have to redownload, and currently, im in the middle of downloading Butterfly Lovers, or some cheesy HK movie with Wu Zun in it. Mmmmm.

So, I decided that beating myself in the face with a hammer would be much more entertaining, so I started Snow Queen, and DEAR FUCKING JESUS I AM LESS THAT TWO MINUTES IN AND IM PRETTY SURE THE TWO LEADS ARE ALREADY DEAD.

Also? just to point out, the slightest little thing...you know, if he really IS in fucking Lapland, his FACE WOULD FREEZE OFF WITHOUT SOMETHING OVER IT. And then he falls off a cliff.


WHY AM I WATCHING THIS? I already know Korea hates me and, if the two leads don't die, they are probably related. Or involved in a life of crime. Or in love with their sisters. AND THEN WILL END UP KILLING EACH OTHER.

Umm, I am not sure how to comment without spoiling but let's settle for this: kdramas love dream scenes which don't necessarily happen in reality?

THIS IS WHY I"VE TAKEN TO WATCHING ONLY COMEDIES FROM KOREA!!!! Serousily avoid anything thats say historical cuz it's bound to end in death and if it says 'romantic' there's a 75% chance that one or both die or can't be together in the end. I found it safest to stick with Korean comedy.... or watch the last fiveminutes before devoting 20 hours to the series. When you finish snow girl you should watch 'My Girl' it's my favorite romantic comedy!

.... and PGSM!!!!!!!!!! I loves PGSM. It was the first asian soap i watched and hooked me into the genre.

OH GOD WHY ARE YOU DOING IT I TOLD YOU NOT TO! I won't even touch it with a twenty-foot pole, SAY NO TO THE DELICIOUS PAIN.

And wah, Hyun Bin needs his face!!! It's one of the only things preventing me from reaching into my monitor and punching his MNIKSS character in the face. Seriously, I get that he's torn between the two women but FUCKING MAKE A CHOICE AND STICK TO IT, WTFFFFFFFFF. (I just finished episode 13; I remembered your warning about episode 14 so I'm going to watch the last three eps in a row tomorrow rather than push on to one more and being unable to sleep due to sheer rage.) ARGH. There were no problems like this in Dal Ja's Spring which yes, I will pimp, and yes, you must watch. Seriously! It's probably a bit too long and the story is nothing new but the main guy is guh-in-black-jeans-and-a-cardigan and I want to marry him and then put him in my pocket so I can carry him around and show him to everyone. I MIGHT JUST LOVE HIM MORE THAN QUAN.

OH I WENT THERE.

Anyway, pretty much anytime you decide to watch a Korean drama, you're signing and accepting the terms in an invisible contract that says, "This drama may cause pain, suffering and borderline torture to you, the viewer. Korea accepts no responsibility for any injuries sustained in the duration of your viewing." With like a P.S that says, "At least one person will die/get cancer/lust after their siblings/enter into another taboo relationship/EAT SOMETHING DISGUSTING OH GOD I HAVE TO FF THROUGH THE FOOD SCENES NOW." Seriously, when the other girl eats the WRIGGLING OCTOPUS in MNIKSS?! I can't do this anymore, it was hard enough in Coffee Prince when she was stuffing intestines/trotters/chicken feet into her mouth, WRIGGLING OCTOPUS is where I draw the line. *feels queasy*

Anyway, I think when you accept the consequences and start watching these terrible, heartrending dramas, you should try and psych yourself out. Tell yourself that everyone will die/get cancer etc etc and then if only a few of the tragedies occur you can be pleasantly surprised. After everyone dies you can go, "Wow, at least they didn't have to suffer through years of rehabilitation!" or something. Make it work for you!

Finally, I got your email but I've been working/watching MNIKSS, so I'll reply tomorrow night once I have another WWL episode under my belt. All I'll say is LOL WIG.

This was pretty much my reaction to Byakuyakou, except it was more along the lines of "HOLY FUCK, LADY, YOU'RE JUST GOING TO LEAVE THE POOR BASTARD YOU SUPPOSEDLY LOVE LYING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET IN A CHEAP SANTA COSTUME AND A PAIR OF SCISSORS EMBEDDED IN HIS GUT?! AND NONE OF THE PASSERSBY THINK IT MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA TO STOP AND HELP HIM OR AT LEAST CALL THE POLICE?! AND THIS IS HOW THE SERIES STARTS?!?!?!"

I deleted it off my hard drive after the first episode. I can't deal with something that depressing.

It got WORSE after that, because it's one of those series that starts with the ending scene and then goes to the beginning - which features the girl's mother selling her off to be raped/photographed by the boy's father, and then the boy kills his dad and the girl disappears (and these kids are only about ten or so, I think) and they don't meet up until they're in high school, where of course they instantly recognize each other. And my friend wanted to know why I didn't LOVE it.
