Distractions

I'm thinking of getting a third tattoo. A text tattoo. I haven't decided what or what font, but I have some ideas. All of these are from various ee cummings poems.

I've only begun to search for quotes, but here's what I like so far.


-trust your heart
if the seas catch fire

-and live by love
though the stars walk backward

-you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

-the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

-little by little and was by was

-your eyes have their silence

-the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses

Cheesy, in places, and nothing Im contemplating seriously yet.


But, I'm curious, what are some quotes or sayings (lyrics, bible verses, whatever), that mean enough to you that you would ever consider engraving them into your skin?

I need the distraction. Please.

I want a full back tattoo with the opening stanza of Beowulf, but that's just me.

Two of my three are text-based tattoos, but they're in Quenya and Japanese. One's fireheart, and one's fire demon. I thought that expressed my personality pretty well.

If I could get Non est ad astra mollis e terris via tattooed somewhere, I would. It means, "There's no easy way from the earth to the stars."

I dont remember what your's look like, but i love the meanings. And I adore the quote about the stars. i have thought about "tongue-tied and twisted, just an earthbound misfit, i" but i dont want people to think i have a Pink Floyd thing, when it's the words themselves that get me.

Where are you thinking of getting it? As I've learned, anything with detail has to be big. I guess I'd have to go back again, because I don't want anything around my belly, since that's going to get huge soon. Unless I got something down the blade of my arm or around my bicep. My left bicep is free, actually...

whatever i get, and whenever i get it, it's going on my right hip/thigh. I have one of my left hip, one on my lower back, so i need my third to balance those out. they've stood up pretty well to body change/weight gain, so i figured so long as im careful about placement, i can go with the right hip idea. and i dont want it big. it's not for anyone else but me, so as long as me and brandus can read it, im good.

...they wouldn't even pierce my belly button while i was still breastfeeding. bastards.

Y'know, I have no picture of any of my tatts? I'll have to take some.

Seriously? Gahh. I was planning on number four for graduation, anyway, and that's two years away, so that would work.

I also have some questions for you re: breastfeeding/cloth diapering and all that crap. But that's another email entirely.

And as for the whole symmetry thing, I have my (right) sword arm (fire demon in kanji), my left ankle (tribal dragon) and the small of my back (quenya for fire heart and kanji for year of the horse in the middle).
